Nominator's project description

Professor Xu is a well-known mathematician who has contributed profound results to Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory. His papers made a lasting impact on the theory and applications of approximations. In Germany, he will work on approximations with kernels and manifolds and address families of kernels related to radial basis functions.
